Haute Lumière · The reading
Your type is not your ceiling.
A type tells you the shape of the instrument. It says nothing about how well it has been played, and the two get confused constantly.
Most type systems are horizontal: they sort people into kinds. Most development is vertical: it changes how any kind operates. Hold both and a lot of the usual argument disappears — the Enneagram is not in competition with a stage model, because a Three at one altitude and a Three at another are barely the same person, and no type description can tell you which one you are reading about.
That is the principle running through everything here. A type is read as a set of apertures — where this instrument takes in more signal and where it takes in less — and then the developmental question is asked separately: what is it like to be this type at the stage you are actually at? It turns a label into something with a direction.
There is also a body in this, which most typology skips entirely. The way a type shows up postures, breathes and holds tension is usually legible before any questionnaire is answered, and it is harder to fake.
A Three at one altitude and a Three at another are barely the same person.

And the next thing
The vertical axis — the one that decides which version of your type you are living — has its own reading, below. If what you actually want to know is why one part of you tests as one type and another part as its opposite, the second door answers that directly.
