It arrives as a slide, a summary, a thing to be got through. We took the opposite position and it governs everything here.
An idea about how living things organise themselves ought to be set as an object that behaves like one — that responds to the hour you are reading in, that holds its own citations, that works with the network cable pulled, and that a printer turns into paper without complaint. Nothing here calls out to a server. Nothing here reports back.
