A note about your data
We do not collect it or share it. Ever.
No account. No analytics. No advertising. No tracking. No third party of any kind. There is nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing to opt out of.
That is the whole of the promise, and it is not the sort of promise that comes with conditions further down. What follows is not a qualification of it — it is a plain account of what the apps actually do, so that you can check the promise rather than take our word for it.
What they do do
Your sittings are written where you made them, and to Apple Health if you allowed that — where they stay yours, under your control, and can be taken away from us entirely without asking us anything.
What editions exist, and what is in the sound library. Those are two public files and you are welcome to open them yourself — suite.json and sounds.json. The question carries nothing with it: no name, no account, no identifier, nothing about you at all. And the apps work perfectly without asking, on whatever answer they were last given, which is why they still work on an aeroplane.
The light you read in, what you have kept, how far through you are. Through your iCloud account, which is yours and not ours — we never see it and could not read it if we wanted to. It is off until you turn it on.
When Ava reads a piece aloud, the reading is made on the machine in your hand. No paragraph of what you are reading is sent anywhere to be spoken back to you.
Why
A breathing app is a thing people open in the worst ten minutes of their week. Its entire value rests on being able to close your eyes in front of it.
An app that watched somebody do that — kindly, anonymously, in aggregate, to improve the experience — would be spending the only thing it actually has. There is no dashboard worth that, and no amount of insight that would pay for it.
So we do not, and we would rather say it here, in the first line, than bury it on page four of a policy written to be skimmed. If any of this ever stops being true, this note changes first, and before the thing it describes ships.
